| Well, I just checked-in online and I leave for Peru in less than 24 hours! There are so many words to describe how I feel right now. The top 2: Joyful and Surreal.
joy⋅ful [joi-fuhl] –adjective 1. full of joy, as a person or one's heart; glad; delighted. 2. showing or expressing joy, as looks, actions, or speech. 3. causing or bringing joy, as an event, a sight, or news; delightful
sur⋅re⋅al [suh-ree-uhl, -reel] –adjective 1. of, pertaining to, or characteristic of surrealism; surrealistic. 2. having the disorienting, hallucinatory quality of a dream; unreal; fantastic
Right now I'm sitting on the couch and it just feels like any other morning. It doesn't seem real that everything I do today (and tomorrow) will be for the last time in a while: Meet my parents for breakfast, hug family and friends, hold my niece and nephew, run errands in town by myself, drive my car, go to the bank, eat at Chick-Fil-A, pay with US money...I am determined to enjoy every moment even though I know it will all go by too fast.
God has really shown himself to us over the past year, and I know He is just getting started. I cannot even begin to imagine what Peru holds for me and Shaun. How do you prepare yourself to live in another country?! Not even my big imagination can conjure up what this next year might look like. I am sure it is going to be amazing, overwhelming, surreal and trying. This is something I have always wanted to do and now it is here...I just cannot wrap my mind around that!
I could go on and on about trying to put into words how I am feeling and what I am thinking, but I need to get ready to start my day! As always, THANK YOU for your encouragement and support in my time of preparation. I cannot wait to get to Peru and share all of our exciting adventures! I will do my very best to keep my blog updated, but I would encourage you to sign up for our monthly e-newsletter! Have a fabulous day!

| You may ask what my new perfume is called. Well, I will tell you: It's called "New Babies". I've been christened with poop, pee, spit up, milk and all sorts of wonderful smells! On Sunday night I moved in with my sister and brother-in-law until I leave for Peru. My parents are moving into their new house and they are currently working on some major renovations. Since I am already living out of a suitcase, it was just easier to be somewhere a little more "permanent"...If you can call 10 days permanent-LOL!
Anyways, this will also give me a chance to spend some much needed time with my sister, brother-in-law and my sweet niece and nephew before I go. My brother-in-law just went back to work yesterday, so I'm helping my sister out as I am needed...and believe me, with twins, the help is always needed. :) We just finished the 2am feeding (Yes, I know it's almost 4!). If I didn't have patience before, I am quickly learning. You THINK you are going to put babies on a schedule, but Oh No! They make their own schedule. Don't get me wrong, having a schedule is a wonderful idea and they will probably get used to it, but if they aren't ready to eat, sleep, etc...well, good luck!
I don't mind though. I am doing my best to spoil them rotten while I am here! Even when I know they should be laying down for their nap, I try to have one of them in my arms at all times (teehee!). I am such a rule breaker :) I can't help it though! They are so precious when they snuggle up in a little bundle in my arms and sleep peacefully, or just look at me with those big, beautiful eyes. It's enough to make a girl melt! Seriously, if I feel this way about my niece and nephew, I can't even imagine the love that is in store for my own babies! Right now I cannot imagine loving any other babies the way I love my Haven and Jackson.
It's been so fun spending time with them and getting to know them a little better. They have the most amazing little personalities! Haven is very curious about everything and is usually wide eyed and checking everything out. She makes the cutest and funniest faces! And every now and then I catch her flashing me a beautiful smile. Jackson is my little cuddle bug. He falls asleep on my chest and just sleeps the day away. I could just watch him sleep always! When he is awake, he is very alert and wide eyed. He's also a little toot! Poor guy always has a gas bubble in his tummy. It sounds crazy but I just LOVE unwrapping him right after a nap and letting him streeeeetch those long legs and get the bubbles out of his tummy. His little baby toots are just adorable! I know, I know...but THAT is true love :)
These babies have simply stolen my heart away, and I don't want it back. I sure am going to miss them when we are in Peru, but I am so thankful for technology! I'm sure I'll get daily pictures and we will Skype often. I will hardly miss a thing, except getting to hold them myself. But no worries; once we are back they're in for some long overdue loving from their Aunt Manda!
Well, I could sit and talk about my little munchkins all day, but I guess I do need some sleep before they wake up again in a few hours. I probably won't have much time for another post for a few days, but I'll update on Peru very soon!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! | | |
